A server’s office is their person. In spite of this challenge, servers are left to their own devices when it comes to how they organize themselves, take an order at the table and then present themselves to guests.
How could La Costa’s world-class restaurants help their exceedingly professional wait staff perform even better at their jobs and enhance their guest experience?
What Needs to Be Done
01. Eliminate the use of check presentations and similar ill-suited methods waiters and waitresses traditionally use to “organize” themselves.
02. Provide servers with a powerful tool to help perform better by holding and organizing everything they are challenge to carry
03.Intergrade the new system into La Costa’s mandatory uniform standard.
Job one, finding a better mousetrap then using the sloppy, disorganized and unprofessional check presenter as a server book. Fortunately for La Costa, Jim Myers, their Executive Director of Food and Beverage Operations, had considerable experience with the Waiter Wallet during his tenure as Hilton’s Senior Corporate Director of Food and Beverage.
The Original Waiter Wallet was brought on board and provided to every server. Now part of their uniform standard, servers were required to use the Waiter Wallet to take orders and organize their order pad, cash, credit card receipts, and countless other work necessities they must carry during their shift.
