La Costa Case Study
La Costa Resort & Spa is known for providing world-renowned accommodations and service to its guests. In 2016, they saw an opportunity to improve their waitstaff functionality and improve the guest experience.
A server's office is their person. Despite this challenge, servers are left to their own devices when organizing themselves, taking an order at the table, and presenting themselves to guests.
How could La Costa's world-class restaurants help their exceedingly professional wait staff perform even better at their jobs and enhance their guest experience?
01. Eliminate check presenters, and similar ill-suited methods waiters and waitresses traditionally use to "organize" themselves.
02. Provide servers with a powerful tool to help perform better by holding and organizing everything they found challenging to carry.
03. Intergrade the new system into La Costa's mandatory uniform standard.
Job one, finding a better mousetrap than using the sloppy, disorganized, and unprofessional check presenter as a server book.
Fortunately for La Costa, Jim Myers, their Executive Director of Food and Beverage Operations, had considerable experience with the Waiter Wallet server book during his tenure as Hilton's Senior Corporate Director of Food and Beverage.
The Waiter Wallet was brought on board and provided to every server. Now part of their uniform standard, servers were required to use the Waiter Wallet to take orders and organize their order pad, cash, credit card receipts, and countless other work necessities they must carry during their shift.
La Costa's servers didn't take long to take to the Waiter Wallet organizer. Soon servers couldn't imagine ever working without this invaluable tool.
Their servers looked much more professional, but they became remarkably more organized and functional while performing their jobs.
And by implementing Waiter Wallet's Free Template system, the La Costa service staff knew more, sold more, and provided a more elevated level of the guest experience.
Executive Dir. F & B Operations, La Costa Resort & Spa
"The Waiter Wallet significantly improved server functionality, organization, and the appearance of our serving staff. And the training components helped us drive incremental revenues."
Quality product, great for what it is. Personally I don’t like the padded fake leather design that is common with server books, including this one. I was hoping for something a bit thinner and more sleek, to fit in a back pocket easily. This could fit in a bigger back pocket but would feel bulky to carry around.
It was a bit bulkier than expected, but it's still amazing to use! It's so easy to write on with the included pad and the wallet portion helps me keep cash payments and my tip slips safe and without losing them. It's MUCH better than using just regular tiny note pads
Jon is always great to work with and responds very quickly. Last minute orders get processed quickly for us.
I work in a busy restaurant were keeping my cash and credit card slips is important. The waiter wallet is a great tool for keeping these two things in a safe place. The waiter wallet has definitely already paid for itself by preventing me from losing cash and credit card tips. Thank you and look forward to the future additions to the waiter wallet.
Will buy again.
I ordered this pens to give out to my employees and they love it.
So far this wallet is proved to be very good investment.
I started using waiter wallets when I broke into fine dining. It's helped me so much, especially with the extra pocket insert. I have a place for all my signed receipts as well. Will continue to buy for years to come.
