Waiter Wallet, helping take the mystery out of wine
by Jonathan Schneider
A restaurant’s wine list can be very intimidating for guests and for waiters alike. But, while a guest may compromise the perfect meal, a lack of knowledge about the wine list can cost a server thousands of dollars a year. The more wine expertise a server has, or appears to have, the better dining experience they will create for their guests. This know-how inevitably translates into an increased guest check average, proportionately greater tips as well as a higher tip percentage for delivering a higher-level service. At Waiter Wallet we recognize how challenging it can be to become a wine expert overnight so we developed cleaver templates designed to help waiters sell more wine and enhance their guest’s experience. Best of all they’re free to download here. Our Wine-paring Template uses an x/y grid to help waiters pair the right wine with their restaurants cuisine. After downloading the template, a server simply divides their restaurant’s menu into 5 broad categories (for example; Appetizer, Salad, Meat, Seafood and Desert. With a little research (or with the assistance of management) they type each menu item in the wine category box that works well with that preparation. Now when a guest asks the server for a pairing suggestion, the right choice at their fingertips in their Waiter Wallet’s clear pocket. Where the previous template broke down a restaurants menu and paired it with an appropriate wine, the Wine Guide Template focuses on the bottled wine list. The template breaks down the list into 9 different wine categories (Cabernet, Chardonnay etc.). For each category a server can then detail three different wines on the list (we recommend a low, medium and high priced bottle) with tasting notes or other information. In the category headers, there is also an area to note broad pairing guidelines for that style of wine. As servers inevitably become familiar with the wines on the template, new templates can be created with different wines to expand upon their newly acquired knowledge. Wine Guide Template

Our Templates are Down
11/04/2022 - We are being moved to a new server, and because of this, our templates are temporally unavailable. Our appologies, hopefully they will be back up shortly.
This Waiter Wallet is awesome! Its durability is amazing. Its a perfect fit for all the things I need to have for service but not overly bulky. It has a nice look and feel. The insert see-through page will come in handy for new drink menus and lists that change! I love it!

A Left-Handed Opinion
I write with my left. I’ve been looking for a book that would be comfortable and efficient with ample storage. Writing this review after my first night of using the Waiter Wallet, I can confidently say this product is the right choice for servers.

The other servers laughed at first, but then got jealous
Every time I start a new job serving in a different restaurant the servers see me with this big notepad/wallet and they laugh. They find it funny having such a big wallet for writing notes and having pockets for money/receipts. I also have the insert so I can have all my notes, specials, and other things in there. After a week or so, they start realizing how amazing and useful my wallet is and they become jealous. They all end up wanting one themselves, even though they laughed at it in the beginning. hehehe

Perfect for my ADHD brain!
I work in fine dining and my brain just doesn’t remember everything anymore! I use one piece for the specials and have the extra insert to add the favorite wine pairings for the different types of wine and the third space for the description of the meats and cheeses on our charcuterie boards. It’s PERFECT! I also purchased the set of pens and they’re hilarious! The customers love them.
All in all, I feel much more proficient after just one week of using my waiter wallet!

Compact Powerhouse
Diminutive by design; but powerful as well. The "Jr. Deluxe" fits so easily in your apron pocket and comes out quickly. The clear top window allows you to list specials, or fabricate your own cheat sheet to insert. Add an additional clear plastic flip window insert and you're loaded with answers from allergies to sauces, steak ounces to dressings. The Bi-Fold design provides sufficient space for tickets and a cash bank as well. I waited months for Waiter Wallet to get these in stock and now I'm purchasing several more for other Servers at work and myself. Just try one and you too will be delighted you did.
